Challenge #8: Design a Shirt and or a Sticker

1. Research shirts and sticker design. What is economy in design? What limitations do we have when printing designs? 

  
    


2. Or as a job... Design the next CLS Art Shirt/Stickers. we can give away stickers at art shows and sell shirts to art kids.... 

                 

3. DETAILS:

FOR STICKERS:


  • 8.5" x 11" Print page
  • Make lots of roughs
  • Make a print page that is organized in a grid for easy cutting. 


FOR SHIRTS
  • front and back is OK
  • No gradients or photographic elements allowed! Flat color and line work only.
  • Maximum of 3 colors + shirt color = 4 (includes black & white)
  • No sleeve prints.


4. Once your design is complete, make a mock up that will help to sell your design.

Challenge #7: Personal Identity Marks




3. Practice HERE by creating the BP logo.

4. Produce 30ish rough draft logos using shapes, lines & type. 


5. Create a letter sized document in illustrator
        a. Use methods that we practiced
        b. Use contrast,alignment, repetition, and                   proximity (CARP).
         

6. Copy and Paste your best Logo onto a new illustrator document. Use its fundamental elements to create 3 variations of the same logo. One for a horizontal banner, one with your full name and one that fits in a circle. See example below.
7. USE FREE MOCK UP TEMPLATES TO MAKE A MOCKUP THAT SHOWS YOUR LOGO ON A PRODUCT..... Example below...

Challenge #6: Principle of Design Poster

1. 


2. Choose a principle of design to explore.
Balance, Alignment,

Emphasis, Proportion, 



Movement,






PatternContrast, or Unity


3. Create a 11 x 17 poster and use any elements necessary to illustrate the principle. 


4. Rules: 
  • Must include text that spells out the chosen principle.
  • Must use elements of design to create the principle visually.
  • Must be 11 x 17inch
  • Must use adobe illustrator




5. Upload your poster to the TEAM DRIVE with your name in the file name.

Challenge #5: 1Letter, 1Number, 1Font

     
2. Choose 1 letter, 1 number and 1 font 

3. Learn Illustrator tools and techniques such as:
    • Type Tool
    • Editable Type vs. Create Outlines
    • Selecting and Adjusting Objects
    • Change Fill and Stroke Colors
    • Adjust Stroke Weight and Style
    • Selecting Multiple Objects 
    • Group/Ungroup Objects
    • Isolation Mode
    • Alignment Tools
    • Transform>Reflection Options
    • Rotation Tool

4. Choose and attempt to use one of these principles of design to help you organize your elements:
        a. Emphasis & Focal Point
        b. Repetition/movement/Rhythm
        c. Symmetry/Balance
          

5. Complete a gray scale design first with 3 tones of gray.

5. Choose and change your design into 3 color schemes using the recolor tool. 
                1.Complementary 
                2. Analogous 
                3. Your choice

6. Turn in 4 designs with different color schemes.

Challenge #4: Motivational Poster

1. Research Motivational posters, sports posters, sports company promotions. Check this hand lettering out!

2. Choose to design one of the following statements on an 11x17 inch document (program of your choice). 



You have to use these words exactly:

"Believe in the Process"
or
"Those Who Stay Will Be Champions"


3. Consider simplicity and composition/organization of text. Keep images simple and original. 2 colors max...

Challenge #3: The Game is Afoot (fall play poster)

1. Create a new document in adobe illustrator or photoshop that is 11x17inches (300 res if using photoshop). Please explore overall composition first with the line segment tool or guides. Maybe steal one of the compositions below and make sure there is negative space left over for all the detailed information that you will add later if selected to make the poster. 



2. Concentrate on the TITLE TYPOGRAPHY. Take some typography ideas from Taylor Swifts video or Ira GLass Video.
